Drone License in Germany

In Germany, the Luftfahrt-Bundesamt (LBA) is responsible for issuing drone pilot certificates. Since January 2021, the EU Regulation 2019/947 applies, and the LBA administers both the EU-Kompetenznachweis (A1/A3) and the EU-Fernpiloten-Zeugnis (A2).

Registration as a drone operator is mandatory through the LBA-DFS portal. Every drone pilot must obtain an operator registration number (e-ID) before flying. EU-Fernpiloten-Zeugnis A2

  • Geographical zones — no-fly zones around airports, nature reserves, government buildings, and other sensitive areas.
